For All The Tea In China

Xiao Qin Cian Sheva-Sheva Apelbaum
My dad loves tea, and by extension so do I. Coffee tastes great, but it’s not the same thing. On a winter day when it’s raining or snowing outside, nothing is better than to curl up with a good book, a hot cup of tea, and freshly baked blueberry scones (they go great with either butter or blueberry jam).
Earl Grey Tea-Sheva Apelbaum
Prince of Wales Tea-Sheva ApelbaumMy favorite teas are  Twinings Earl Grey and the Prince of Wales, which come in loose-leaf form in metal containers.

This is my tea recipe:
  1. Fill a kettle with fresh water (I prefer either mineral or distilled water)
  2. After the water has come to a boil, pour a cup full into the teapot and swoosh it around (this will pre-heat the pot and help the tea’s steeping process)
  3. Put 4 teaspoons (half a teaspoon per cup) of tea leaves into the teapot. You can use a tea ball or jut put the leaves directly into the pot
  4. Put the kettle back on the fire and bring it to a boil again and then fill in the teapot with the boiling water (be careful not to burn yourself)
  5. Place the lid on the teapot and cover it with a tea cozy (to keep it warm)
  6. Wait 5 minutes to allow the tea to steep
After the tea is done steeping, you can serve it. I like to drink mine with milk and sugar. The milk makes it creamy and smooth.  My dad also sometimes likes to add few drops of Grand Marnier (orange liquor) to his teapot to give it a slight orangey flavor. If you want to to make your tea drinking experience complete, you can add some Chinese or Japanese mood music.

Tea anyone?

  1. I LOVE tea with milk, too! There are so many kinds, you can never have too much! Have you tried Mate? It's also tastey, but I think one of my favorites is Greek Mountain Flower tea.

  6. The lady in the picture is the last great Chinese empress Xiao Qin Cian. I’ve been told that strangely we look a little bit alike :-)

Yes the music is very beautiful, it sounds like a running stream of water. It is a recording of a Chinese folk artist.
